Bio
Anastasia Goodwin is a technical author and award-winning data reporter. Her skills include authoring textbooks and technical documentation, data wrangling, data analysis, creating visualizations, submitting FOIA requests and crafting data-driven stories. She has proven expertise in the education space through her work as Senior Data Reporter embedded with the Houston Chronicle's education team. She has experience with hands-on instruction through her role as an adjunct professor in the Moody School of Journalism and Media at the University of Texas at Austin. She has also served as a facilitator for newsroom-wide data trainings and at conferences like NICAR.
Anastasia enjoys teaching data journalism and discussing how documentation can improve transparency and accessibility.
In addition to her reporting work, she also enjoys documenting processes and authoring tutorials to ensure that others can replicate her work. She has a passion for open source and open data, and she believes in the importance of making data and technology accessible to both readers and other technologists alike.
